I've known Mike for over 45 years as a colleague and friend, and, most recently, we have both been members of the Sutton Coldfield Model Engineering Society. Mike is one of the most universally respected people I have ever known. He always had time for people, and was always ready to talk, to listen and to offer support, advice, encouragement and friendship. A couple of years ago he acquired his own miniature steam locomotive, and got a lot of pleasure from learning to fire it up and drive it, and to be able to give rides. Mike is going to be missed a great deal at Little Hay, and I'm absolutely sure by other groups he belonged to, and also by me, and all the other people whose lives he touched.
